THE COMPANY
Southern White Water is 100% Kiwi owned and operated White Water Rafting, Hunting & Fishing tour operator that was launched in 2015.
Southern White Water is a member of the New Zealand Rivers Association and a Department of Conservation concessionaire, which means that our operation has been assessed on the environmental impacts of our activities.
Southern White Water is certified under the Adventure Activities regulations managed by WORKSAFE New Zealand.
THE PEOPLE
New Zealand’s backcountry along with fishing and hunting has been a passion within the family for the last 30+ years.
We are very much a family operated business, with the olds hanging around a lot of the time, helping out where ever possible.
Shell and Darrell Haworth aka “the olds” have long been on the scene, and together we have spent decades hunting, fishing and exploring the NZ back country.
These guys are an integral part of our operation as off river support, drivers, caterers, trip planners, photographers and guides who help out with most trips.
We are very blessed to have family involved in our business.
THE DOG
‘Hunter’
Hungarian Vizla ‘X’ Chocolate Labrador
Hunter was born on the west coast of the South Island in 2015 (August) in a town called Ross.
His mum was a Hungarian Vizla and dad, a Chocolate labrador.
Hunter came from another rafting family, so we think his love for rafting was maybe in his genes.
Hunter moved to Christchurch when he was about 12 weeks old and started his apprenticeship in the outdoors.
Since then he has come a long way, having to grow up with two young kids bullying him and being immersed in various outdoor activities including his favourite, rafting.
Hunter is a master of river navigation and entertainment.
You will find him swimming even the most challenging rapids on all our rivers and providing a calming essence for our clients.
Hunter has his own Facebook page so you can see some of his adventures and the crazy things he gets up too.
HUNTERS STATS
Hunter is our mascot where ever we go.
He is clocking up quite an impressive logbook and making a few new friends along the way.
THE COMMUNITY
Yeah good one folks!
STOP DUMPING YOUR CRAP AT THE RIVER!
We are pretty over finding rubbish at our local rivers.
We have helped remove over 13 tonnes of rubbish from the Ashley and Waimakariri rivers over the past few years with the help of like minded people and countless volunteers.
There is so much more work that needs to be done.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Keen to help out.
Greta Valley Kindergarten
We were approached to sponsor the Greta valley Kindergartens event to raise money for a new playground. We love kids so we were more than happy to supply a few vouchers to help.
Since the first contact we have sponsored their events 3 years running.
As we operate mainly in North Canterbury we were pretty stoked to be able to help people in the Greta Valley community of North Canterbury.
4WDING Canterbury & Beyond
2016 Waimakariri river clean up.
The 4WD group approached us wanting help with a river clean up at the Waimakariri river around the main highway bridge.
We sponsored the event with some vouchers to give away and got the family over to help target an area that we frequent ‘MacKintosh rocks’. This spot is popular with fishers. In under an hour we collected 2 wool sacks and a few large bags of rubbish and hardly scraped the surface.
Around 70 volunteers turned up to the event.
In total there was over 10 tonnes of rubbish collected from the surrounding Waimakariri river area in just 4 hours.
Canals Clean up Group
Roger witnessed the detriment of the areas surrounding the Twizel canals due to over promotion of this amazing fishery. The place has become a mess.
We met with Roger to discuss options and his goals. We supported the cause and the event which had a great turn out.
Since the inception of the Canal clean up group Roger and his crew of volunteers have made this an annual event and are doing a great job keeping the place tidy.
Ashburton Lions club
The Ashburton lions club held a golf tournament to help raise funds for youth and various other community projects.
We were approached to sponsor the event and participate in the tournament.
It was a great day out on the golf course with Sir Richard Hadlee attending and also sponsoring the event with some of his memorabilia.
There was a great turn out with 132 starters and 16 teams of sponsors.
Ashburton lions club raised $17000 on the day that will go back into the local community.
SPONSORSHIP
We are happy to support community groups with fundraising, donations and planning.
We have donated over $10,000 worth of services to community fundraisers and various groups since 2015.
We are always happy to talk to you about your fundraising ideas.
